Xiaomi's global versions carry an eSIM; the Chinese domestic versions usually do not, and both circulate widely. The model number in Settings will tell you which one you have, and *#06# settles it — an EID means the eSIM is there.

The eSIM is added as a second line, so your own SIM and your own number stay exactly where they are. You set the eSIM as your data line for Oman and leave your usual number for calls and texts.
The service is data only — no calls, no SMS and no Omani number. WhatsApp calls, FaceTime and Messenger all run over data, so those keep working normally.

Open the dialer on your Xiaomi 15 and dial *#06#. If an EID appears alongside the IMEI, the phone has an eSIM.
It must also be free of a carrier lock. That is the one thing worth confirming before you fly — a locked handset will refuse the profile, and finding out at the airport is too late.
Installing an eSIM on a Xiaomi phone
- Open your phone's network or SIM settings.
- Look for Add eSIM, Download a SIM, or Add mobile plan.
- Choose the option to scan a QR code.
- Scan the QR code we send you on WhatsApp.
- Set the eJurs line as your data SIM and turn on data roaming.
The QR code arrives by email and on WhatsApp, usually within two minutes of payment clearing. Do this at home while you are still on WiFi: the profile installs and then sits dormant until you land.
